  • Route: Ulaanbaatar – Chinggis City – Steppe Horse Camp (Khokhuur Steppe) – Ulaanbaata

This journey takes you to Khentii Province, the legendary birthplace of Chinggis Khaan. You will visit the "Oath of Heaven" complex—the historical site where Temüjin (Chinggis Khaan) and Bo'orchu swore their eternal brotherhood—as well as Mongolia's first underground mine, and key shooting locations from the hit Japanese drama Vivant.

Beyond history, you will experience the award-winning community-based tourism model of the "Bulgiin Partner" cooperative. Engage directly in authentic nomadic life: ride horses, visit traditional herder and shaman homes, meet cultural heritage bearers, and participate in daily pastoral routines. This is an immersive, hands-on journey into the heart of traditional Mongolian culture.

Detailed Itinerary

This 3-day itinerary can be extended or customized according to your preference! You can choose to trek from one nomadic family to another, staying with authentic herders along the way, or enjoy daily ride-outs from our horse camp, taking a different scenic direction every day.

Day 1: Journey to the Land of Chinggis Khaan & Tour Commencement

 

  • Morning: Depart from Ulaanbaatar toward Khentii Province, the birthplace of Chinggis Khaan. En route, visit the iconic Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex at Tsonjin Boldog.

  • Lunch: Enjoy lunch in Chinggis City. Afterward, visit the Berkh Underground Mine Museum OR the Khentii Province Museum. (Note: The Khentii Museum ranks among the top three in Mongolia for its rare and invaluable cultural artifacts, accompanied by excellent guided tours).

  • Afternoon: Arrive at Steppe Horse Camp, located on the historic Khokhuur Steppe where Temüjin and Bo'orchu's legendary friendship began.

  • Evening: After dinner, take an optional evening visit to a local horseman or nomadic family.


 

Day 2: "Oath of Heaven" Complex & Immersive Nomadic Experience

 

  • Morning: Enjoy a traditional Mongolian breakfast before heading out with your guide to explore the "Oath of Heaven" (Tengeriin Andgai) Complex.

  • Midday: On the return journey, visit a Shaman’s home to learn about shamanic regalia, sacred tools, and rituals. You may also stop by the local Soum Cultural Center and Museum, recognized over 20 times as a top regional cultural institution.

  • Lunch: Return to camp for lunch, followed by a relaxing afternoon break.

  • Afternoon & Evening: Hands-on Nomadic Cultural Activities. Choose to visit one of three unique local households (or pre-arrange a custom visit):

    • Ochiroo’s Family: Master craftsman specializing in traditional leatherwork and souvenirs.

    • Chuluun’s Family: Local family engaged in sea buckthorn harvesting, vegetable farming, and traditional handicrafts.

    • Maagaa’s Family: Dedicated breeder preserving purebred Taiga dogs (Mongolian sight-hounds).

  • Nomadic Routines: Participate in evening pastoral activities such as milking cows or herding sheep and goats back to their pens.

  • Evening: Unwind after dinner with an evening karaoke session in the camp’s main dining hall.


 

Day 3: Sunrise Herding & Return to Ulaanbaatar

 

  • Early Morning: Rise early for an exhilarating herding experience—join the local horsemen on horseback or in a vehicle to round up large herds of horses.

  • Morning: Return to camp for a relaxed breakfast. Visit the sacred Bayan-Khaan Mountain Ovoo located next to the camp to take part in local offering traditions.

  • Afternoon: Depart back to Ulaanbaatar, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant along the way.

  • Evening: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, marking the end of the journey.
